Ft. Myers Recap!

Around the clock!  In a nutshell, that was how the weekend was down in the Sunshine State.  The Ft. Myers Skatium was rocking all weekend long, with games starting at 5pm on Friday night, and continuing non-stop throughout the weekend.  There was some great competition and the folks at the Skatium were great hosts, a big reason why things went as smooth as they did!

In the 10U Division, the Tour Scorpions were the cream of the crop, dominating round robin play before knocking out the Mini Muffins in the Championship game to take home the Gold!

The 12U Division featured multiple divisions.  In the AAA division, the Outlaws were the team to beat.  Unfortunately for their competition, that was quite the task, as they went unscathed all the way through, grabbing the Gold over Team X.  In the AA Division, the Lumpy Muffins outlasted the Wellington Prowlers to take home the Gold.

In the 14U Division, the Mafia ’97 dominated, taking home the Gold with a shutout win over the Bad News Benders.

The 16U Division was another one that featured multiple divisions.  In the AA Division, it was quite a battle between the Tour Scorpions and the Mafia ’96.  In an action packed championship game, the Mafia ’96 pulled out an OT thriller, knocking off the Scorpions, 4-3 to grab the Gold!  In the A Division, the Mafia ’97 completed the Mafia sweep, and took home the gold with a convincing 7-2 defeat of the Misfits.

The Adult Division featured some of the best hockey of the weekend. Every game was very tight, and there were a couple of upsets in round robin play that created a 3 way tie for the 2nd seed.  The UCF Knights took advantage of the tiebreaker, and then played a fantastic championship game, knocking off Hung Over Hockey to take home the championship!

All in all, it was a great weekend for us, and we hope that the teams enjoyed the non-stop action off the rink in addition to the great action on.  We would like to thank all the players, coaches, and parents for supporting our qualifier, and hope to see all of you guys at our National Games in Raleigh, North Carolina June 26 – July 1st, for what will undoubtedly be the premier tournament on the East Coast!

Next Stop….Richmond, Virginia!
